Big Idea of the series: These 7 sins are deadly because they produce so many more sins in our lives.  During the season of Lent, we take time to reflect on our sins.  Using these 7 sins to help us in our confession and repentance of sins will lead us to the cross of Jesus.

Big Idea of the Series: There is a movement today to cancel culture.  But God calls us to live counter- cultural.  The prophet Elijah lived during a time when followers of the Lord were persecuted.  He lived against the culture of his time.  We can learn much in how to live today from him.

God Did What?

Scattered throughout the Old Testament are strange things that God did.  People don’t usually talk about these because they don’t agree with their view of God.  These are not one-time weird things of God.  These were written to tell us who God is and what He does.  They are strange in order to get our attention.

God’s Image in Us

Big Idea of the Series: God has created us in His image.  That image was corrupted in the fall.  Through faith in Jesus that image is being restored.  As we learn the attributes of God, we learn how our image is to reflect His attributes. God is the giver of good gifts.  He gives us spiritual gifts that reflect His attributes.  As we learn about these spiritual gifts, we learn about who God is.

God’s Purpose for Family

Big Idea of the Series: God’s purpose and plan for families has not changed over the years.  God designed families to reflect His relationship with us. Following His design for families will bring blessings not only to us but also to the places where we live.

The Offense of Christ

Big Idea: Most people think of Jesus on the cross as an offense.  But Jesus also said things that offended people.  He spoke the truth, pointed out people’s sin, and confronted hypocrisy.  Nobody likes that! But to not do those things is an act of hate rather than love.  Prepare to be offended!

The Spirit of the Lord is Upon Me…

Big Idea of the Series: New Life was started so that those who are unlovable would feel the love of Jesus.  The verse used in the early days to describe New Life’s mission was Luke 4:16-19 (ESV) 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,

            18          “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

                        He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives

and recovering of sight to the blind,

to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

            19          to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

This series will look at each of the different four groups of people that Jesus came to save.  We will see how as we live out this calling, we are sowing seeds of God’s love into people’s hearts.

The Spirit Speaks, The Church Listens

Big Idea of the Series: The seven letters to the churches in Revelation are meant to also be to us as a church and as individual followers of Jesus. Each letter contains a word of encouragement or admonishment for us. Are we willing to listen?

Worth Ship

Big Idea of the Series: Obeying God out of love for Him is what we are to do.  This shows God His worth in our eyes.  It is an act of worship.  This series will focus on the 3rd Commandment and the concept of Sabbath as rest and worship. (We will use the assigned Old Testament readings for the first 3 weeks and the assigned Psalm for the last week.)

Why Am I Here?

Big Idea of the Series: Everyone struggles with a sense of identity and purpose.  Until we first know who we are, we cannot know what our purpose is.  This series will look at who we were, who we are in Christ, our general purpose in Christ, and finding our specific purpose in Christ.
